About us
Logic gate models (LGMs) are a generalization of fault trees and event trees used in risk analysis. The representation of alternatives is done with a possibility-type LGM. A very large number of alternatives can be represented in a compact form.

The organization of the possibility LGM facilitates discovery and development of a clear set of alternatives. It functions as an expert elicitation tool to integrate individual subject matter expertise over the entire range of options generated by the decision problem. The number of possibilities can be very large. For example, in the systems analysis of an advanced future system, the combination of component, process, concepts of operations and environment boundary conditions can easily generate millions of possible system alternatives.

Working with a very large set of alternatives poses significant problems for many traditional analysis methods.
Solution of the LGM yields the possible choices. Possibility trees are constructed using natural language so the differences between the alternatives are clear.

An important feature of LED possibility LGMs is that path-wise calculations can be performed for each alternative during the solution. Path-wise solution allows for a consistent estimation of analysis metrics across the set of alternatives and provides for reliable estimation of the effect of dependencies that arise when combinations of lower level options are combined. more
